Birthday Boy

David turned 26 this month and we tried to celebrate the best I could. I don't have a very good track record for making birthdays, Christmas, or Father's Day exciting so I did my best. David went to class as usual and when he got home Morgan and I attacked him with Marshmallows for a full on battle, until Morgan got upset that David and I were throwing things at each other. His presents were set out and we had a Happy Birthday sign. After dinner Seth, Kira, and the kids came over (David didn't know they were coming) and Kira made this yummy jello cake! We played life-size angry birds and then the new kinect sports David got. All I can do is hope that it was a good start to another year for him.

Adam and Morgan played with the kitchen set - Adam looking cute and Morgan apparently thinking the jello cake needed something more - although at one point during the festivities I found her at the table digging into the remaining jello with fist and face

In other news, my two older brothers came to visit - one whom I haven't seen since Morgan was born and the other since last summer (2011). Morgan quickly took to them and had a blast playing. Here she is with Tyler. She curled up with him to watch Despicable Me

Day at the Park

David joined us at the park last week which was so nice since it is usually just me and the kids. He brought the camera and took some awesome pictures!

He is in the moby wrap and had just woken up

Day 83

Eli is 3 months old in 9 days and it has certainly been a life lesson having a newborn and 1-year-old. Trust me when I say on more than one, two, or three occasions I have wished there was a bigger age gap than 19 months between the two. I always hear women say how much they love nursing and that time they have to bond with their baby, but sadly I can't share that sentiment. I think nursing has been the greatest stress of a new baby, no matter what number it is. I wish I could look forward to feedings but instead I look forward to when I don't have to fight my body and try anymore. Thankfully I have been blessed with the ability to bear children but it is so hard to feel inadequate and incapable of feeding that baby. As David so delicately puts it, I'm broken. I can't do what I am meant to do.

Morgan likes Eli, although she is also very cuddly now too. She ALWAYS wants hugs. Who knows if that is because of the 4 molars coming in, she just likes us, or is jealous of all the time I spend holding Eli. Now that it is cooler we are going to the park more often and walk to the library for story time. Thank goodness for the Moby Wrap!

David is busy, busy, busy with school. When he is not in class or at work he is doing homework. It gets pretty lonely. But he seems to like the classes so as least there is that.
