Fun Facts

As Morgan's personality is beginning to unfold, here are some fun things we've learned...

  1. She LOVES baths! She gets so excited when you turn on the water and lay her down to undress her. She knows it's coming.

  2. When she is starting to wake up in the morning or from a nap, if she sees you with your eyes closed (either laying down or in a chair or something) she will most likely go back to sleep, but if she can't see you or your eyes are open she will cry until you pick her up. Same goes for when she is falling asleep - if you're up she wants to be up too.

  3. If you are eating something and holding her, she will look at it and drool.

  4. At night she doesn't like it when you sit down - she wants you standing and holding her. She will almost immediately calm down once you get up.

  5. She hates the car. She hates it less if she has company in the back with her, but she still does not like it.

because she is cute!

and she got in that position all on her own!

New Parents' Excitement

Being a new mom I think I am well within reason to brag about my daughter and how amazingly talented and great she is. The Saturday before this last Morgan rolled over for the first time. We didn't see it but I laid her on her back to play with her toys and when I looked back later she was on her belly! I was so stoked I ran into the bedroom and woke David up to tell him. But she didn't do it again until yesterday morning, and she hasn't stopped since. I think she realizes how cool it is and does it often now. It makes us so proud each time we see her doing it! Also, I realize so many babies woke up at the crack of dawn and make sure either mommy or daddy get up with them. Morgan likes to sleep in. Thank goodness. For the most part she wakes up between 9:00-10:00 AM and looks over at me and David and just smiles - anxious to play. It is adorable.

Also note the new picture on the blog header. Our last family picture was at Morgan's Baby Blessing 3 months ago and I was anxious to get another. It took a while though to get Morgan to look at the camera.

She doesn't quite love it yet, but she is beginning to like it.... at least, I hope.

another address...

We found it! This past Monday we got a call from the management of this apartment we had applied for saying that we got it. So David and I told him we would get back with him to confirm our decision because there was this other apartment we wanted to look at and were waiting to hear back from. During the waiting I found a posting for another apartment that met our requirements (cheap, 2 bedroom, and washer&dryer). So we decided to take a look at it before we gave the final answer. That night we went to see it and were blown away by how much we loved it. It is so adorable and has so much personality. The kitchen isn't nearly as big as the one we have now and I'm gonna miss the pantries, but the living room is HUGE with tall ceilings, a fireplace, and plenty of windows throughout the house. We both really like it and are very excited to move on - May 1st.

Call us The Nomads

Maybe David and I are making up for staying in one home all growing up because now we can't seem to stay put. That's right, we are moving... again. I have a great deal of mixed feelings regarding this new decision but it seems like the best one. We absolutely love the apartment we are in, don't get me wrong, but there have been recent events that have pushed us to the conclusion we need to get a new place.

When we found this apartment we were told by the people we were buying the contract from, as well as the manager, that the rent goes down $200 in the spring/summer which made the average for each month an AMAZING deal. The time has rolled around for resigning and the new contract said nothing about the decrease in rent. So we inquired with the manager (who took over for the manager that was there when we moved in) and she knew nothing about that. After it was confirmed with the owner that we were indeed misled when we originally signed the contract, we knew this place was no longer in our price range. On top of which, because of our doubling of laundry with the addition of Morgan (who knew such a small person could make such a mess!) we no longer wanted to burden David's brother with letting us use their washer/dryer and doing it at a laundry mat is at least an additional $25 a month. So we saw this move as an opportunity to find a place with free washer/dryer access. Yet another reason for us leaving is the management. We have gotten unpleasant vibes from them since they moved in upstairs and we haven't enjoyed working with them. Maintenance has been a HUGE problem and there are noticeable issues that have been around since we moved in 5 months ago and despite multiple notifications they have received regarding them, nothing has been done.

We do love the size of this apartment and how great it has been to have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, but we will venture out yet again and find some place else we love and can call home.
