We Are

And the Holladay life is acruisin' on...

Recently things came together for me to graduate this December! Since I've put that together I am more anxious than ever to be done. This new-found glory came to be because I began my internship at Curves for Women Fitness Center. It has been a lot of fun and I am really learning more than I expected. So now I am taking 7 credits but they are my last! In other news I am now delivering flyers each week for a carpet cleaning company. It doesn't require much work and brings in a little extra money. Not to mention I get a workout doing it - I estimate I walked/ran a total of 11 miles between Mon and Tues - uphill, downhill, stairs... needless to say my legs are sore.

David seems to be climbing the ladder at work. He is now the Director/Technical Director for the International Broadcast for the BYU Football games. He is also the Technical Director for the Insights and True Blue shows on BYUTV (feel free to check them out!) School is very time consuming for him with all the heavy reading demands.

Morgan is growing up so fast. She is walking now, pretty much never crawling. It is so fun to watch her learn new things. She dances now and does all the clapping and waving and what-nots. We think she is going to be an avid reader because she LOVES her books and will just sit there in the "reading corner" and gaze at the pages of her books - it's adorable :) Since her second tooth has come in she is going down for naps and bedtime beautifully - and we are very grateful. She is now in the 20th percentile for her weight but still wearing mostly 0-3 months clothes.

We are doing well and excited for the coming months :)

the victor's cup

I stumbed on this when reading a friend's blog and it reminded me of when I had the exact poem hanging in my room as a teenager. I feel like I needed it so much today. For some reason of which I know not, and despite all the good things in my life right now, tonight I found myself lying on the kitchen floor sobbing - all the meanwhile Morgan crawled on top of me with a big smile. So after I calmed down, I stood up, gave Morgan a hug, proceeded to feed her dinner while doing the dishes. Times get rough, even if it's a nonsense emotion with no origin, but you can't quit.

Must Not Quit
by Julia Jane Sutton

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Sometimes I think Peter Pan had the right idea - never grow up.

It seems as of late the growing up meter is rising fast. Morgan has her first tooth and is learning to walk on her own. David knows just what he wants to do for his career and is pressing onward making it happen. Being a grown up is harder than the memo indicated it would be. Morgan hasn't been sleeping well since we left for FL, even worse since we got back. As a little kid you think grown ups have all the answers, and oh how I wish that had some truth. I don't know what Morgan needs to go to sleep anymore; I don't know what I want to do with my degree; I don't know much about politics or any of the other "grown up stuff".

Watermelon always reminds me of summer and cutting some up today reminded me of how one more summer is passing by. School starts next week. Do you think I could just click my heels three times and be back in the sandbox digging holes?

Florida Fun

David and I got to spend two weeks in Florida with family doing a bunch of fun stuff...

We went to the beach - Morgan's first time - and we couldn't keep her
from eating the sand. It was just so good I guess.

We went swimming in the pool - well, chillin' in the pool!

David's sister, Sara Lyn, and her husband are Sea World fanatics so when they heard I had never been they enthusiastically introduced us to the awesomeness that is Sea World!
Shamu

Can you tell it was the end of the day?

The mime that entertains while waiting for the sea lions show.
He was so funny making fun of people coming in

Meeting Joe was sure a fun experience.

New Bow

David and I got the chance to go to "our" temple with the
family just 1 wk before our 2-yr anniversary. It was amazing.

David teaching Morgan how to play the piano. She LOVED the piano
and always wanted to play it with someone.

Morgan and Minki getting to know each other

Even though we had a lot of fun visiting friends and family we sure are looking forward to being back home

She crawled in with my keys and just sat there.
I guess she wanted to go somewhere?

I have the first clip because it is the correct way, but this next clip she goes further

Morgan's Newest Milestones

We are pretty sure Morgan is teething, so maybe this face is how
she soothes her gums?

Look who is growing up! Morgan now pulls herself up, on anything
and everything, and will even walk along the side
of the couch while holding on.

Video of some of Morgan's rambling while playing with toys.

She does this quite a bit.
