third times a charm

Fall is here and we are finally settled into our third apartment.

Furniture has trickled in thanks to the kindness of family and I realize how silly I was to fret over it that first week. The Lord blessed us with the things we needed without having to spend an outrageous amount of money. I was reminded of President Uchtdorf's talk at General Conference regarding focusing on what matters most rather than letting stress keep you from rejoicing. I was definitely letting the stress of the new apartment and not having furniture get in the way of my rejoicing, and it wasn't until I calmed down and reminded myself that it would all come together in due time that I saw everything working out. I would have saved myself a lot of hassle from the negative consequences of stress if I had just trusted in Him sooner. Lessen learned.

So, our apartment: 2 bedrooms which allows for baby Morgan to have her own baby's room when the time comes (and I am super excited to decorate once I have some more time during Thanksgiving break), 2 full bathrooms, dining room, kitchen with pantry and plenty of storage space. David finished building our dresser last night and now we actually have somewhere to put our clothes. It makes a huge difference in the room and I loved just sitting in there this morning admiring the cleanliness/organization. David's brother and sister-in-law gave us their couch and my sister is giving us a lot of her furniture since they recently decided to move out of state at the end of the year. The apartment is a lot brighter than I had remembered when we checked it out at the very beginning. The windows bring in ample lighting for every room and since we don't have to pay additional costs for any utilities we have lights on more often. It is by far better than our first apartment and I am happy we found it. It met all our criteria plus some; the Lord really was looking out for us and our best interest.

The colors are changing outside and it really is quite beautiful - the best part about Utah is its fall colors. It's getting colder in the mornings but usually always warms up by the afternoon. Snow will inevitably come soon - not exciting. I do enjoy wearing sweaters though and feeling the crispness in the air and the crunching of the leaves on the ground. It always reminds me of family, I guess because of the holidays.

I think baby Morgan is going to be one smart little girl because I feel like I am doing better in school this semester than I have in semesters past. She must be helping me out with all her great intelligence. But school really isn't all that bad it seems. Exercise Physiology is starting to pick up in intensity however so will require more dedication, and History of Creativity exams are a bit ridiculous, but overall all is going well. Doing the work and staying on top of the reading and assignments makes me feel good.

Speaking of baby Morgan, only 9 weeks left til she is supposed to come! We had another ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and she is doing great. About every other week David looks up the development of the baby and where she is according to how far along I am. It is amazing all the things she can do now. One night, not long ago, I was laying in bed and she was moving like crazy for quite a while! David was having a field day with it and I truly loved the whole experience. It has been such a blast feeling and seeing her move, each day getting stronger and stronger. Putting aside the difficulty in eating, breathing, and sleeping, as well as the vomiting and fatigue - I have really loved being pregnant. I'm excited to actually meet her!

Ode to Boy Meets World

Sitting and watching Boy Meets World brings happiness to my heart! I have grown up watching it and really feel there are more good morals in this show than the ones on TV today. In a lot of ways I see several people from my own life in this show. It makes me happy! The following clip is just a compilation of Eric's Feeny Call, one of the many funny parts of the show. Makes me feel like a giddy little kid again :)

and life goes on

It is nearing the end of September which puts us into October which makes December only 2 months away! Exciting!

You can definitely tell school has started around here. Textbooks and notebooks seems to pile up on our counter every day and we are tired much more often. David is taking some interesting classes (and by interesting I mean impossible for me to even fathom taking). He is in Economics which goes toward his new Business Minor and seems to take up a lot of time; Research Methods, required as prerequisite for other classes in his major; TV Production, which he loves because they get to sit around for 1 1/2 hrs once a week talking about directing - right up David's alley; New Testament and Weight Training which will, according to him, make him "buff" for Gymnastics next semester. We are both in History of Creativity, which I find more amusing than I had anticipated it being. I'm trying to wrap up my major classes this semester with Exercise Physiology, Worksite Health Promotions, Stress Management and Mind/Body Health. Graduation seems to be getting further away though with those darn GE's.

We are moving again. We found an apartment we both like - 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all utilities included, huge kitchen with 2 pantries, dining room, and personality; most importantly - it's cheaper than where we are now and even about 4 houses closer to campus (but because this is Utah it is also in a different Ward). I was up the other night thinking about all the possibilities of decorating. Since we will be settling in for longer term and have to buy our own furniture there are more possibilities. Should be fun.

Baby is moving around a lot these days. She is super cute and sometimes distracting because instead of listening to teachers I just want to watch her move my belly. One down side though: her kicks are getting stronger and at times it hurts. But I love that she seems to be having fun in there. Super excited for her to come out and play.

I got a new calling at church, about a month ago. I am now a Relief Society Teacher. This past Sunday was my first time and boy was I nervous. David kept reassuring me everything would be fine and was running through the lesson with me but despite all the kind words - I was still petrified. A year before David and I got married, my roommates and I were sitting around talking about callings and which ones we didn't/did want to receive that coming Sunday. I commented that teaching would be my least favorite. Everyone said I should knock on wood and I laughed at the idea and said the Lord knew me better than to give that one to me. I was called as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher - I wanted to die. But as it turned out I loved that calling and it remains my favorite. Well, after this past Sunday, I remembered that the Lord knows me much better than I know myself and I actually enjoyed being in front of the class. I noticed a lot of things I needed to improve but I was kinda excited to do it. Too bad we are moving in a month.

caught up in tomorrows

My mom was the seminary teacher for 9 years and during a period of time there was this one boy that always used the word "fail". So it became the "F-word" and my mom said we weren't allowed to say it anymore. That has stuck with me for all these years.

More and more over the past few weeks I find all I want to do is lay there... and think. It could be about anything or nothing but for some reason it has become one of my favorite past-times (slothful, isn't it?). Sometimes though in my thinking the "F-word" will come up and then my mind seems to automatically create a list of all the things I am not doing right or that I should be better at. My entertaining daydreams become a daunting reality that I am not living up to my expectations. It's funny when you are little and think about the future and all the things you are going to do and be and then the future comes and you aren't doing those things and you aren't being that person - so you dream about the future of tomorrow and the next day or week or month envisioning life then. Preparing for school to begin this semester I created a schedule - "My Life" I called it - for each day of the week, but it really didn't even last for one day. Thankfully, my unbelievably amazing and understanding husband helps break the daze and brings me back to the now, so I can keep trying for that realistic tomorrow.

I've always loved rearranging things and organizing the already organized boxes and shelves. When I was younger I would periodically go insane with the way the furniture was arranged in my room so would change everything around just to get bored with it again a few months later. I guess that has carried over into my home. Last night David mention the idea of moving again at the end of the year due to the recent increase in rent and the not-so-very-far-away decrease in income with the Baby coming. We both LOVE the place we are in now and I am so unbelievably thankful we found this place so quickly. However, when I woke up this morning I was excited to start looking at new places - I guess that is a part of dreaming of my tomorrows.

Baby is moving a lot these days and I am getting more and more anxious for her to come so I can play with her and love her and even more so, see David play with her and love her. Sometimes it seems so unreal.

It's A....

GIRL!

This week we had the 20-week ultrasound where we could find out the sex of the baby. It was the most beautiful thing. I really didn't expect it to be as exciting and tear-jerking as it was, but I was captivated by what I saw - the spine, legs, face, toes, and even smile! It has really made it all the more real, knowing she is there healthy and happy. She is becoming more and more active and I can sometimes feel her shifting positions, although I have yet to figure out what body part is sticking out where. It was kinda emotional seeing her smile. I felt like she really does like us, despite all our imperfections and things we need to work on - she likes us. I have a daughter! And she is beautiful!

our little getaway

For our one-year anniversary David and I decided to celebrate in Park City. It isn't until August 11th but with my family in town then we decided to go early. It was so beautiful and refreshing to have a vacation where we didn't have to worry about work or school and we could just enjoy being together. We went to the pool everyday, spent one afternoon on Main Street, saw the view of Park City on the way up the ski lift and just kicked back at our really nice hotel, Silver King. It was a blast and even now I sometimes wish we could have stayed there much longer.

The fireplace in our hotel. One night I turned the AC down
really low so I could utilize the prettiness of the fire.
Above it was a HUGE flatscreen TV

The Lobby of our Hotel

David sitting at the bottom of the pool - he kept timing himself
to see how long he could hold his breath.

Trying to hide from the camera.

The pool area. David is crawling over from the hot tub

On the way up the mountain

Our dangling feet on the way up. David kept trying to startle
me by lifting up the bar - I wouldn't have any of that.

On our way up the lift

The view - reminded me of Sound of Music

What we saw walking around at the top of the mountain

The view of Main Street on our way down the ski-lift.

The place we ate on our one night of "splurging" - Steak House.
We were the only people in the place so we got A LOT of attention.
The waitress was super nice and after overcooking my steak and
making a new one, we went home with almost 2 whole steaks for leftovers :)

All growing up I wondered what babies thought about. I wondered if they liked their new family and home or wished they were back with Heavenly Father. I wondered how much they knew and what they would say if they could talk. Now that I am that new family and am the creator of the new home I find myself worrying more than wondering. Am I doing all that I need to be doing to make this home as much like the one they are coming from? Is my baby going to be glad to be with me? Am I doing my best at my personal spirituality? Am I worthy of my baby?
